Systems Engineering Services
In a nutshell

Collaboration fuels innovation. The Maritime Cross Platform System Program
Office (MCPSPO) brought us in to reduce siloed ways of working and enhance
cross-functional engagement. Embedded within MCPSPO, we led a newly
formed Engineering Team, growing their Combat Systems and Maritime
Engineering knowledge.

Who we worked with

Maritime Cross Platform System
Program Office (MCPSPO), an
organisation within the Capability
Acquisition and Sustainment Group
(CASG). The office is responsible for
the delivery of logistics and
engineering support for cross-class
maritime systems and materiel to
the Navy.

What was the challenge?
To lead the management and
improvement of a newly formed
Engineering Team, which operates
within the Combat Systems Integrated
Product Team (IPT).

Beyond prioritising the delivery of maritime products, this engineering team
was introduced to improve on the previous construct which hindered
cross-function engagement. Essentially, functional ‘silo’ operations were
leading to obsolescence issues.

What did we do?
Our engineering services were
delivered through pre-engineered
changes to Platform System Program
Offices (SPOs). We were responsible
for completing the following activities
on behalf of the Commonwealth:
  • Technical Information Reviews
  • Risk Assessments
  • Development Approval and Incorporation Approval Engineering Change
  • Documentation
  • Verification and Validation
  • Test and Evaluation
  • Product Acceptance
The results
Our team was embedded in MCPSPO’s
Combat Systems IPT, and there we
were able to effectively grow the
engineering team’s Combat Systems
and Maritime Engineering knowledge.
We did this through the application of
systems engineering principles. As a
result we:
  • Provided expert combat systems engineering knowledge and advice
  • Developed an improved Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) management
    system to enable ECP tracking while promoting timely completion
  • Enhanced the knowledge and skills of existing personnel in the
    development of professional engineering documentation to improve quality
    output
  • Progressed the development of Engineering Change Proposals to reduce a
    backlog of outstanding tasks
